Blog: “God is Faithful” by Gabriel Lespron
Type of Fast: No meat all day
Target: Expansion of church planting and all new pioneering pastors
God is faithful (reliable, trustworthy, and therefore ever true to His promises, and He can be depended on); by Him you were called into companionship and participation with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:9
I could not have thought of a better way to start up our 40 days of prayer and fasting than what happened to me last Tuesday night at the church:
Just as I was getting ready to leave for prayer my younger sister asked me if I was going to bible study. I was not disappointed to let her know that I was not going to bible study because our church was starting our 40 days of prayer and fasting. To my surprise, she asked if she could tag along with me to prayer.
In order to understand just how amazing this seemingly small event really was, you have to understand the prayers and tears shed God knows how many times. I have been coming to church for well over five years and this was the first time one of my family members asked me if they could come. Now I am not too sure just how many of you who read this actually have family members show up on Sundays, but my heart would break when I saw families sitting together. Families would pray over each other, hug, cry out to God, and be there for one another. Observing this from afar I would ask to myself, “God, what about my family?”
I know my family believes there is a God but in their own ways…as much as I am sure many of our members from Victory Outreach. Our family loves each other and cares for one another but I have always wanted them to feel the love of God that comes only from being at His house or at the altar. To feel and share that intimacy with those you love so dearly is something I have always prayed for.
My prayers were answered and returned on the first night. His promises do not come back void. Thank you Lord! God touched my heart like never before when my sister asked me if she could come to church. Of course God moved when she came into the doors and His presence was ever so close to both of us as I prayed over her. We were broken together, for very different reasons, but the pieces are being put back together. I believe God has more for me and my family, for all of our friends and families. Faithfulness is ultimately rewarded in His time.
